Obsidian Entertainment is looking for experienced and talented designers to do area design for our growing team of RPG developers. For this project, area design refers primarily to content creation and involves designing area layout, pacing, and balancing as well as scripting encounters, creature placement, but area construction experience (especially in the G.E.C.K., Unreal, or other 3D level construction program) is a plus.

Requirements:

· 1+ years game industry experience

· Area design experience on at least one title, including at least one RPG, FPS, or other action title

· Worked on at least one shipped titles through their complete production cycles

· Thorough understanding of the game development process and requirements

· Exceptional creativity

· Exceptional attention to detail

· Love of computer and console role-playing/action games

· Team player

· Excellent communication skills

· Able to adhere to tight schedules

Responsibilities:

· Design game content – quests, NPCs, items

Requirements:

· High proficiency of a major 3D software (Max, Maya or XSI) and Photoshop

· 4-year degree form an accredited college or university or equivalent industry experience preferred

· Solid High and Low poly modeling skills

· Solid knowledge of architecture, materials and lighting

· Solid grasp of color theory

· Ability to be resourceful and come up with creative solutions

· Ability to be receptive to art direction and critiques from project art leads

· Strong foundation in traditional art

· Strong organizational and communication skills

· Ability to rapidly master proprietary tools and development pipelines

Plusses:

· Create a wide range of high quality environment art assets: props, interiors and exteriors

· Model, UV Map, texture and create the materials for environment assets

· Integrate art assets into the level editor and light exterior/interior scenes

· Work closely with Art Director and Level Designers to ensure the visual target is met or exceeded

· Complete work under reasonable deadlines

So about us:

1) We are a social gaming startup taking a very broad approach to hitting the market.

2) We are in pre-funding stage but we have strong runway

3) This is a position where you can make your own way in the company. The sky is the limit to where this could lead for you. We want go-getters not afraid to use there other skills to help. Have desire to do marketing, game design, game art, game development… we have opportunities all over the place for you to jump in.

4) We are on the verge of full funding. While I cannot give specifics we expect to be breakeven in 2 months and funded in fewer than 6 we are already discussing options.

5) Most of the time you will be working from home and will be able to be 100% flex time. (As long as tasks get done).

The bad part….

We cannot pay very high currently. We can offer between 10-14$ per hour based on experience. But as we surpass breakeven and get funded your pay would of course go up.

This is why we are looking for strong go-getters. This position is not for someone looking to change jobs without a pay cut. We understand we are only able to offer on the low side, but we also know what this could lead to for the right person. Is that right person You??????

In some ways desire, drive motivation are more important than skills but here is what we are looking for.

1 – Able to monitor and maintain sites. Analytics, and implementation of fixes’ and corrections in xHTML, JS, PHP, CSS, Wordpress a) you do not have to be an expert in these things, but the desire to learn is important.

2 – Come up with creative solutions for the websites and help them grow.
